If a man says to you "Aww your so sweet" does he like you or not?

ok so I've been dating this man for the past 2 months and don't get me wrong he's kind, respectful, commited, the only problem is that I don't think he really loves me he's told me he loves me. He's told me he does a couple of times but I feel it was only because he was infatuated. He also doesn't try to contact me I have to contact him. But whenever I say somthing to flirt or just flatter him he always replies with "Aww your sweet" or "Aww your too kind" now don't get mad at me for saying this but do you think he really like me or is just playing, or is he even...gay?
